Back in the mid-90s, somewhere around the time Dungeon recorded Changing Moods and Demolition, there were heaps of songs recorded with the intention of putting them on the next Dungeon album (which was to be the Resurrection album). One such song was this one: Lonely Nights.

Even by the time the demo of Resurrection was completed, the band focus had already started to change towards power/thrash and most of the AOR/melodic rock songs were shelved because they didn’t suit the new direction. Interestingly enough, a couple of the melodic rock songs even made it through to the Resurrection demos but were cut for the actual album.

Lonely Nights was always one of the songs that I most regretted letting go and there was always the intention to record it properly one day with some project. Some of the lyrics have been updated and the keyboards which were never recorded on the original idea that I’d always heard as being part of the song were added in.

For this version, I recruited ex-LORD drummer and current Germ multi-instrumentalist Tim “TY” Yatras to do drums once again, and handed the vocal duties over to the amazing Gareth Michael who I’d worked with on a couple of other projects. Gareth also provided backing vocals on LORD’s Ascendence album.
